Marathon Coaching Sessions"The Marathon is a charismatic event. It has everything. It has drama. It has competition. It has camaraderie. It has heroism. Every jogger can't dream of being an Olympic Champion, but he/she can dream of finishing a Marathon." Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder **** |

Are you training for your first marathon? Or have you run one and would like to improve your time?
If you think you might be interested then please email Steve. It is easy to join in, just download the London Marathon 2011 Training Schedule and run with Steve at club sessions. You can run the additional training sessions by yourself, or meet up with other members who are following the schedule. We also have a schedule for the Stratford Marathon 2011, just download the Stratford 2011 Marathon Training Programme The runs included in the schedule are:
REST - Rest days are the second most important part of marathon training. They are essential to staying healthy. The mileage build-up required to run a good marathon creates stress. And while you need to stress your body in order to prepare it for the rigours of running a marathon, you don’t want to over do it.
EASY - These runs are shorter and should be run at an easy pace.
MEDIUM - These runs are to be run at the pace you intend to run the marathon.
LONG - These runs should be run at a pace 1 to 2 minutes per mile slower than you intend to run the marathon. (the pace to run 4 hour 30 minutes is at 10.5 minutes per mile, therefore you would run at a pace of between 11.5 to 12.5 minutes per mile.)
X-TRAIN - Cross-training should be a form of exercise that dose not have any joint impact. i.e. swimming, cycling, walking or strength training. Your first marathon - a few words from the wise - Runner's World |
