The Hogweed Trot 22nd May 2006
Well done to all those who ran on not the best of nights but at least the worst of the weather managed to hold off. Despite the weather there was another good turn out with 259 finishers.
The race was won once again by Vitto Graffagnino in a time of 33.20. With the winning lady Ann Singer finishing 9th overall with a time of 37.53.
And some good Hogweed Ladies results with Emma Dalton having a great run to finish 2nd Lady in a time of 38.58 and Jenny McCallum was the first LV50 in a time of 51.46.

Thank you very much to all marshals and helpers who made the race a great success. And well done to all those who competed, 250 runners.
The summer
series of evening races continued this week when the first ever
Hogweed Trot road race was held on Monday 24th and proved to be a resounding
success. All expectations were exceeded when over two hundred runners entered
the 10K event. Well supported by local clubs, there were also runners from as
far afield as Macclesfield and Portsmouth who arrived at the Race Headquarters
of Yate Town F.C. for the fast, flat course through quiet and pleasant country
lanes.
In hot and humid conditions Andy Hawkins from Swindon Harriers was the clear
winner in a time of 32:53. Just two minutes behind, Tanith Maxwell, from the
Liberty Nike Club, was third overall and the first lady back in an outstanding
time of 34:52. Prizes were awarded in many categories including Super Super Vet
(over 60's) where Bitton member Pat Slavin produced another excellent run.
First Hogweed to finish, but just outside the prizes, was Tim Lund. Peter
Willoughby was the first Hogweed veteran to finish, whilst Sarah Richards who is
competing in her 1st Marathon in two weeks won first prize overall for first
Female veteran.
Jonathan Wells finished well up the field and won the prize for being first
Under 17 whilst at the same time beating both his parents !
A large number of Hogweed novices, most of whom had only
taken up running during the past few months, competed and all did themselves
proud on an excellent evening of racing that produced many personal best
performances.
Club members marshalled the route and manned the water stations, but great
credit must go to the Race Director, Philippa Crocker, who put in a tremendous
amount of hard work over many months to help ensure the event ran so smoothly.
