| Road Runs | consist of runs of four to seven miles at a variety of different paces around the country lanes or loops around Yate/Sodbury in Winter. There are usually three or four different paced groups covering a mixture of distances. No-one gets left behind, whatever their pace. There is always someone else to run with. |
| Specific Training | consist of organised session intervals/efforts or hills etc. suitable for all abilities. |
| Cross Country | consist of runs of four to seven miles cross country. No-one gets left behind, whatever their pace. There is always someone else to run with. |
| Out and Back | everyone runs out on the same route for a fixed time (e.g. 20 mins) then turns around and retraces. So everyone should finish at the same time. |
| Social Run | Intended to be a good workout for all whilst being sociable (i.e. sheep dogging where necessary) so suitable for all abilities. |
| Triathlon Training | bike/run sessions etc. |
| Beginners | very easy session. intended to introduce people into running so suitable for anyone who has not run before or who is returning to running. |
| Long Runs | longer run across the countryside and include a selection of measured routes on roads. Four or five groups run between four and twelve miles (more for those training for a marathon) at a variety of different paces from fast to very slow. |

If you are looking to improve your speed and speed endurance you can join Hogweeds at the Yate Outdoor Sports Centre on Fridays for a 6.30 start to track sessions. The sessions have been designed by club coach Simon Spedding for those (un)lucky enough to be entered into the London marathon. They will however be suitable for anyone of any ability doing a marathon or half marathon, or even a 10k in the spring. Sessions will focus on faster running which will help you get those target times you’ve set yourself for the spring race. Combine the track into the sessions you are following from a magazine or from the Hogweed website. Track sessions cost £2.15, payable to the sports centre. The coaching is free to Hogweed members.
